Can PV Designer be used for large PV systems, eg. 100 kW or higher?
Currently the PV Designer is recommended for systems that are 15 kW or less. This is normally residential or smaller commercial systems. For larger systems, it may be possible to use PV Designer to estimate modules or subsections of a larger system limited only by the 100 meter x 100 meter maximum plane size. However, […]
How to replace a PDA in the field
This solution covers the steps required from a software point of view to replace a PDA Internationally. 1. Supply the new PDA serial number to Bernie. You can find it on the PDA by going to: Settings, System tab, HP Asset Viewer 2. Bernie will issue you a runtime license and international license file. It will […]
Dim display.
The backlight to the touchscreen display will turn off if the On/Off button is held down for 4 seconds. If already off, it will turn back on by holding the On/Off button down again for 4 seconds. If you notice the screen is on, but very dim, try this.
By adding certain parameters manually, we would like to convert the measurements into a CAD-compliant data set. Have you planned for such an option?
The PV Designer software uses multiple Skyline readings and locates each of them on the rooftop, then interpolates them for each hour to derive the shading probability for each module’s shade. Effects on the module, string, and array are considered in the calculations of AC kWh.
Is it possible to correct the SunEye Images for the Fisheye-Effect?
We do not currently correct the Fisheye into a panorama photo. However, we do provide an Obstruction Elevation view that allows you to define a start and stop azimuth and look at the highest obstruction elevation for each azimuth value (one degree). In addition, the user can view the maximum or average value over given […]
What happens when averaging skylines?
If I have one horizon at point A and 2 horizons at point B, would that give a different result than having only one horizon at each point? Averaging as implemented is a simple function. If you take two Skylines at one location, they would have twice the weight of a single Skyline in the […]
Is it possible to average skylines from different sessions?
Unfortunately, no. The SunEye software inside the device OR in the desktop software performs the averaging function only for Skylines in a session. It is possible to compute the average yourself for the twelve months. To compute the average for each month, add the solar access percentages from each Skyline and divide by the number […]
Camera replacement troubleshooting matrix.
The attached is a troubleshooting tool that shows recommended action when various SunEye versions display Power Up and Maintenance Required error messages.
Can I work on my “raw” sessions on another computer?
Yes. If you have the SunEye Desktop Companion software on another computer, you can work on a copy of the session by following these steps: 1. Find the session folder on the hard drive of the original computer. The default location is \mydocuments\solmetric\suneye\sessions\… 2. Compress the entire session folder with the name of your session […]
Can you set individual MPP set points for mulitple input inverters in PV Designer?
The PV Designer inverter data base includes inverters with multiple DC inputs and MPP trackers. For example, the Mastervolt Sunmaster XL15 has 6 DC inputs and 3 MPP-trackers. In PV Designer, the assumption in the simulation model is always that all of the strings are combined in parallel and supplied to a single DC input. Thus separate […]
